Students at Canarvon Care Home

Carnarvon Care Home in Clacton welcomed students and tutors from the National Citizens Service to visit residents for a week and they were really pleased they did!

The students raised money by packing bags at the local BM store and doing a sponsored walk. Some of the money they raised was used to beautify the garden for the residents to sit in and enjoy.

Painted Tyres

They brought new plants, a bird table and some solar power fairy lights.  They painted some old tyres and the garden shed to make, the garden looks bright and cheerful.

Lake District Painting

Beach PaintingOne of the students painted a nice canvas picture of the Lake District at the request of one of the residents who would love to go there but is unable to.  As Carnarvon Home is by the sea another student painted a beach theme that will go on the shed.

The Students also joined in with the games.  One young man called bingo for the residents and Mary, one of the residents, taught him all the little saying associated with each number.

Line Dancing

The students joined staff and residents in line-dancing which none of them have ever done and everyone had a great time.

Yvonne Wills, Activity Coordinator says ‘Residents and staff can’t thank the students enough for all they did during the week; it was wonderful to spend time with them.  They are welcome any time to come and visit and join in the fun and games we have here’.
