Timebanking

Another reason to become a FaN

We are working with the Essex Timebanks. If you haven’t heard of them, here’s a summary:

Timebanks are local organisations that are run in Essex by the local Volunteer Bureaus and funded by the County Council. They allow you to accumulate “credits” for that the time you give as a volunteer. Your credits entitle you to time from another volunteer, probably offering something completely different, who is also a “timebanker”.

For example, if you have given a few hours as a FaN, which you love, but your garden needs weeding, which you hate, then maybe you might choose spend your credits on getting that job done for you. You can also spend your credits on someone else (an elderly relative, for example) who may live in a different timebank area if that suits you better.
