We are pleased to see that there is growing interest in FaNs across the country. People who came to the Launch last June will remember the address by Paul Burstow, the former Minister of State for Social Care. Paul was so impressed with the idea of FaNs that he included a page on it as a case study in the report of the Demos National Commission (which he chaired) on the future of residential care, which was published last autumn.
Both Professor Julienne Meyer and Tom Owen of the national My Home Life movement have expressed their support for FaNs, as has Martin Green, Chief Executive of Care England.
We are also getting enquiries from various different parts of the country about the FaNs movement. It certainly seems as if our Essex FaNs are going to be the pioneers of something that will spread far beyond the borders of our county.
