I'm interested in Getting Involved in FaNs

Essex FaNs (Friends and Neighbours) come in all shapes, sizes and age groups. Anyone who cares about the well-being of older people living in residential care can do something as a FaN. Individuals of all ages, local groups, schools and business owners can all make a real difference.

You don’t have to commit to a specific role or offer a specific amount of time; you don’t even have to visit people living in care homes in order to make a real contribution. Whatever you can do helps to #makeeverymomentcount. Have a look on our website to see how all types of FaNs can make a difference and don't forget to Like and Share our Facebook page. You can read our FAQs here, but if you want to speak to Team FaNs for more information then Contact Us and we'll get back to you.

What we believe

#make every moment count

Just because an older person moves into a care home they don't stop having their own interests and preferences about how they wish to spend their time. With increasing physical and mental challenges older people often need extra support to continue to do many of the things they enjoy.

What we do about it

FaNs - 'Made in Essex'

We encourage individuals of all ages and organisations, to become 'friends and neighbours' (FaNs) of the residents in care homes. FaNs offer older people the encouragement to engage in and feel part of the wider community by responding regularly or as a 'one-off' to support individual resident preferences.
